Donations to the Japanese Government
We are grateful for the warm support extended to the affected people of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
As the Government of Japan started accepting donations for the people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Consulate General of Japan in Portland also started accepting donations to the Japanese Government as of April 6th.
The donation can be brought by cash to the Consulate during its office hours, or can be sent by bank wire transfer to the following account. Please note that the Consulate in principle can not accept checks of any kind, but if there is no other practical means, please consult with the Consulate (503-221-1811) in advance.

When certain amount of donations is deposited in this account, it will be remitted to the Government of Japan, and will be used for the affected people through local governments.
The donations accepted by the Consulate are not subject to tax deduction under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and thus the Consulate can not issue the receipts for such purpose.
