Consul General's Commendation awarded to sister-state and sister-city organizations

On December 11th 2015, at the Emperor's Birthday Reception, Consul General Furusawa awarded the Consul General’s Commendation to Oregon Governor Kate Brown in recognition of the sister-state relationship and the grass root exchanges between Oregon and Toyama prefecture in Japan over many years.
In addition, Consul General Furusawa also awarded the Consul General’s Commendation to 25 local governments in Oregon, Idaho and the Southern part of Washington which have established and maintained sister-city relationships with their counterparts in Japan. Mayor of Portland, Charlie Hales, and First Lady Nancy Hales accepted the award on behalf of the sister-city organizations as the gathering celebrated the commendations together.

You may find a list of the local governments who received the award here.
We, the Consular Office of Japan in Portland, would like to offer our deep thanks and respect for the activities of these local governments and sister-city organizations and we hope for continued success in the future.
