Consul General's Commendation to the 48 Japanese Language Program Schools in Oregon & Southwest Washington

The relationships between Japan and other nations, including the U.S.A., are growing deeper and wider in recent years. The promotion of Japanese language education around the world is important, not only to increase the number of people who are proficient in the language, but also to promote understanding across the political, economic and cultural sectors.

To support these important goals, Consul General Furusawa has determined to recognize the 48 individual schools across Oregon and Southwest Washington that maintained Japanese language programs in 2013 and bestowed on them the Consul General's Commendation in order to express his sincere appreciation. The Consul General will personally visit each of the 48 schools to present the award and these visits began in February, 2014.
