Drums of Three Nations a huge success

On Sunday, June 11th the Chinese, Japanese and Korean communities in Portland, with generous support from the Port of Portland, NIKE and Tokyo Electron America, Inc. and the World Trade Center of Portland were pleased to present a “Drums of Three Nations”. This third annual cooperative event took place in the Outdoor Plaza of the World Trade Center Portland.
The event was free and open to the public. About 550 people attended and enjoyed the powerful drum performance.
The idea for the event originated with officials from three Portland area offices: Jin Lan, President of Oregon-China Sister State Relations Council; Kojiro Uchiyama, Consul General of Japan in Portland; and Greg Caldwell, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Korea in Portland.
The talented performers were Mr. Lin Li (who travelled from the mainland China) & the Lee Association Lion Dancers (China), Portland Taiko (Japan) and Ms. Seung-Hee Ji with Oregon Korean Performing Arts (Korea).
