TOMODACHI Summer 2014 Coca-Cola Educational Homestay Program
From July 23th to August 3th 16 Japanese high school students from the Tohoku area stayed in Salem with local host families. The 15 students were some of the participants of the Tomodachi Summer 2014 Coca-Cola Homestay Program, carried out from July 20th until August 5th. This program provides students from areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 the opportunity for cultural exchange and cultivation as leaders of the next generation. This year, 60 students from the Tohoku area took part in this program.During their stay in Salem the students studied English and enjoyed experiencing everyday American life with their host families. They also visited Silver Falls State Park, Multnomah Falls and had many wonderful experiences in and around Salem.
