Consul General Shiga visited Beaverton City Hall On Wednesday, December 1st Consul General Shiga visited Beaverton City Hall and met with Mayor Lacey Beaty. Beaverton is home to more than 1,000 Japanese citizens as well as numerous Japanese companies, restaurants, food stores and the home office of the Japanese Business Association of Portland - Shokookai. The Consul General thanked the mayor for the welcome that the community of Beaverton has given to so many Japanese people and organizations and for their daily, continued support.

In 1987, Beaverton’s first international sister city relationship was established with Gotemba, a Japanese city located in Shizuoka prefecture, 60 miles southwest of Tokyo, Japan. The city is known as the eastern entrance to Mt. Fuji. We hope that Mayor Beaty will have a chance to visit Gotemba and the opportunity will come soon!
