More than 20 Japanese companies are active in Hillsboro

Consul General Shiga made a courtesy visit to Hillsboro Mayor Steve Callaway on Dec 9th. Mr. Shiga thanked Mayor Callaway for the city's support to the Japanese community and they agreed to cooperate in maintaining and strengthening relationships in the future.

With the comprehensive semiconductor supply chain of companies addressing all facets of chip production, Hillsboro is the economic engine of the Portland metropolitan region and the State of Oregon. The Hillsboro Industrial District attracts a significant amount of foreign direct investment including the largest concentration of Japanese technology companies in Oregon. More than 20 Japanese companies are active here, contributing to the local economy through creating employment opportunities.
