2024 National Day Reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday

On Friday, February 9, we held the Emperor's Birthday Reception for the 6th year of the Reiwa Era, (2024), at the Hilton Portland Downtown. 250 people attended the celebration, including Tina Kotek, Governor of Oregon, Kelly Anthon, Majority Leader of the Idaho State Senate, mayors representing Oregon-Japan sister cities, and many people from the economic, cultural, Japanese American, and Japanese language education sectors in Oregon and Idaho.
Also, various Japanese companies set up booths to present Japanese food, such as sushi, onigiri, karaage, green tea, and Japanese-style beverages and spreads. A sake tasting booth introduced 5 premium Sakes directly from Japan and a beautiful Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, attracted a lot of attendees.
We would like to thank the many guests, the companies that cooperated with us, and all the volunteers for a wonderful event!
