2025 National Day Reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday

On Friday, February 21, we held the Emperor's Birthday Reception marking the 7th year of the Reiwa Era, (2025), at the Hilton Portland Downtown. Around 300 people attended the celebration, including Mayor of Portland, Keith Wilson, Mari Watanabe, Representative for District 34 of the Oregon House, mayors representing Oregon-Japan sister cities, and many people from the economic, cultural, Japanese American, and Japanese language education sectors in Oregon and Idaho.
Also, various Japanese companies set up booths to present Japanese food, such as chirashi-zushi, onigiri, yakitori, green tea, wine, ice cream and Japanese-style beverages. A sake tasting booth introduced 4 premium Sakes directly from Japan and a beautiful Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, attracted a lot of admirers.
We would like to thank the many guests, the companies that cooperated with us, and all the volunteers for helping to create a wonderful event celebrating the continuous friendship and strong relationship between the U.S. and Japan!
