2026 National Day Reception to Celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday
2026/2/26
On Friday, February 20, we held the Emperor's Birthday Reception marking the 8th year of the Reiwa Era (2026) at the Hilton Portland Downtown. Around 300 people attended the celebration, including First Lady of Oregon, Ms. Aimee Kotek Wilson, Oregon Secretary of State, Tobias Read, Idaho State Senator, Kelly Anthon, mayors representing Oregon-Japan sister cities, and many people from the economic, cultural, Japanese American, and Japanese language education sectors in Oregon and Idaho.
Various Japanese companies also set up booths to present Japanese food, such as Japanese seafood, onigiri, inari-sushi, Japanese tea, Japanese-style beverages and spreads, ice cream, and amazake. A sake tasting booth introduced 4 premium Sakes directly from Japan and a beautiful Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, attracted a lot of admirers.
We would like to thank the many guests, the companies that cooperated with us, and all the volunteers for helping to create a wonderful event celebrating the continuing friendship and strong relationship between the U.S. and Japan!
