The 37th Annual Japanese Speech Contest

The Consular Office of Japan in Portland is pleased to announce our 37th Annual Japanese Speech Contest, which will be held in the Hawthorne Room of the Wells Fargo Center Building from 1:00 – 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 11th, 2026.
The contest is open to middle and high school students who are studying Japanese language.
Division 1 novice category is for beginning Japanese learners. Division 2 is for middle & high school students. Division 3 is for immersion program students of middle and high school level or students who are from homes where Japanese is spoken.
The application deadline is Thursday, April 2nd. Space is limited and we will close the application process when capacity is reached.
